Once Upon a Time is an American drama based on characters and settings from fairy tales. A simple town in Maine called Storybrooke slowly comes to realize that it is entirely populated by characters from fairy tales and folklore. Their memories and identities have been stolen by a terrible curse and they must regain them at any cost.
The town of Storybrooke has, unbeknownst to anyone who lives there, remain unchanged for twenty eight years. The mayor is Regina Mills and she just happens to be the Evil Queen of fairy tale and story who banished herself and all the citizens of Storybrooke with a curse she obtained from Rumpelstilskin.
The only hope for Storybrooke is Emma Swan, the biological daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. Snow and the Prince managed to send their daughter to the “real world” before she could be cursed. Now Emma is the only one who can break the hex and give everyone back their memories and true selves.
The cast of characters continues to grow, adding people from a host of different fables, fairy tales, and mythologies, including several Disney princesses and villainesses. Once Upon a Time has grown to be the most popular non-sports program on Sunday nights and is beloved by fans.
Fans of family drama with magic hidden just beneath the surface should give Once Upon a Time a chance.
