El Señor de los Cielos is a Mexican-American telenovela co-produced by Argos Comunicación and Telemundo.
El Señor de los Cielos is the story of a man who had the ambition of becoming the richest and most powerful man in all of Mexico and beyond. Aurelio Casillas bought into the Mexican drug trade of the 90s in a huge way and saw that as the ticket to fortune and power he’d always lusted after. Unfortunately, he became a bit too famous when his photograph was published and he was named as the infamous Lord of the Skies drug kingpin.
Casillas knew he had to change his face, but that came with its own dangers. Now that he’s on the Mexican Most Wanted list and his face is public, he’d have to go up against the other cartels, the media, the Mexican Navy, and anyone else who got in his way.
Inspired by true events, El Señor de los Cielos takes on a life of its own by going as over the top as you can imagine a telenovela about a drug kingpin goes. Billed as a story of “action, emotion, unbridled passion, misery, intrigue,” and a whole lot more, El Señor de los Cielos is everything you’d expect from a drug cartel soap opera.
Millions of viewers tune in to see what Casillas and his cast of drug peddlers, family members, military enemies, and reporters will do and how he will react to it. If you love conflict turned up to eleven and have an interest in criminals of the drug trade, then El Señor de los Cielos is the choice for you.
