American reality television series Dr Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet originally premiered in 2015. It follows veterinarian Dr Jeff Young and his Denver, Colorado based veterinary clinic as he treats a variety of pets and other animals. His clinic, Planned Pethood Plus is essentially an ER for animals and every day brings some unexpected challenges.
Jeff Young is a highly respected veterinarian in the Denver area and the animals who are brought to him are very often in precarious life or death situations. Dr Jeff and his team are very often the animal's last hope and he and his team have saved thousands of animals from a wide range of ailments including everything from cardiac arrest and devastating injury to all manner of potentially deadly diseases. What really sets the series apart is Dr Jeff himself. Why? Well, because he is not at all what you would expect from a Veterinarian of his stature – he is a scruffy, heavily tattooed, bandanna wearing guy who is also a self proclaimed 'Hillbilly'! It certainly makes for some interesting viewing.
Dr Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet has gotten lots of favourable reviews since first going on the air and it has been steadily holding a 1.2 million viewership. As the series has progressed, more interesting and sometimes more mysterious cases have been featured which has helped keep viewers interested enough to keep on tuning in each week. However, there has also been a substantial amount of controversy surrounding the series, mainly aimed at Jeff's outspoken opinions. He has had some pretty scathing comments about breeders, overpriced veterinarian services and even people who dress up their pets, but for the majority of viewers this is all part of his appeal.
You are likely to enjoy Dr Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet if you are an animal lover and a fan of similar shows including Emergency Vets, Operational Wild and Vet School.
