One Mississippi will happily start on its second season after the Amazon Prime show decided to renew it for a second season! No exact premiere date has been set, but it will be out in 2017 in the U.S., Austria, Japan, Germany and the U.K.
Diablo Cody and Tig Notaro created the series which is about a fictional version of Notaro returning to her hometown after the death of her mother. Because of the content, this can be classified as a dark comedy- and it pulls it off really well. The characters as well written, and overall it is a very well-directed Amazon show. Showrunner Kate Robin has had her hands full since the pilot episode, with a lot of the show’s content needing a skilled eye to make it come alive on television. With all of the risk involved with the storylines, season two will be bolder and take even more risks when it comes to the characters.
This is one of those under the radar shows on Amazon, but one that has continually received critical acclaim. With a good amount of viewers passing along the greatness of the series by word of mouth, there is a really good chance that it will get even more recognition heading into the new season. Amazon has been pretty good about picking up original series that people love, and One Mississippi joins shows like Goliath that have really struck a chord with viewers.
The only downside to look at is a possible cancellation if the eyeballs on screen don’t pick up. There is a lot more story to tell in One Mississippi, and doing a two and out won’t inspire a lot of Amazon love.
How many seasons does the show have in it? What makes the series different from any other show on television?
