Naruto, The Most Famous Ninja in Anime!
Author and artist Masashi Kishimoto, created Naruto out of a passion for telling the historic and epic tale of ninjas using his talent for compelling storytelling and anime artistry. Naruto Uzumaki is a tough teenage ninja who has a big dream. He wants to be the Hokage in his village, the honorable leader of all the ninjas, the strongest ninja of them all. The Naruto universe has exploded over the years, and with the international excitement over Japanese anime expanding in the early 2000s, Naruto has seen great success.
Naruto: Shippuuden (translated to English is ‘Hurricane Chronicles’) continues along the same path as the original manga, only it is set two and a half years into the future. Naruto has completed his Jiraiya training and comes home to his village of Konoha. When he gets there, it turns out that all of his peers are better than him! He must gather his strength and fight every danger that comes his way on his quest to find Sasuke.
While season numbers differ between the manga and the airing number, some say that season 20 contains 72 episodes and premiered on May 28, 2015, and the finale is planned to air on December 8, 2016, on TV Tokyo.
Episodes 476 in the TV series is 697 in the manga version, which aired as a one-hour mega episode on September 29, 2016, and brought a huge fight sequence between Naruto and Sasuke to conclusion in stunning black and white.
The series recently pushed past its 700th in the manga version, and fans were delighted to see that it has gone so far. At this time, there haven’t been any announcements about the future of Naruto: Shippuden, but there are always side stories to be told out of the Naruto universe.
Currently, for those in the English-speaking world, Adult Swim is way behind on their airing. It has Season 6 available to stream on their website with a cable provider access login. Toonami is a 6-hour block of anime programming on Saturdays starting at midnight on Adult Swim, and Naruto: Shippuden is part of that block, often airing near the middle at 2am or 3am. Older episodes are also available to stream on Hulu, and the DVDs can be purchased through the international distributer Viz.
IMDb voters rank the series at 8.6 out of 10 with over 46,000 votes cast. That is an unprecedented high number of votes for a manga series. Viewers who comment about this being the best anime series ever, say that it’s not only the characters and the rich storyline that keep them watching, but it’s also the addictive music and emotional content that draw them. Those who disagree are very vocal about the huge amount of filler episodes which waste time, and they recommend this series either pick up the pace or they are done watching.
