The First season of the television series My Kitchen Rules commenced airing on January 12, 2017

S1 Started January 12, 2017

On the list of everything the Fox is announcing for their upcoming season, My Kitchen Rules is an unscripted cooking series. The series features pairs of celebrities as they cook a meal and critique it in the home of other Hollywood stars homes. Each team has a turn at hosting an intimate dinner in hopes of impressing their rival competitors along with two judges who are both professional chefs. The series is an unusual take on reality television and a cooking competition. Those who are interested in watching a cooking show with a little entertainment along the way with some celebrity appearances, this will likely be the show that shouldn’t be missed.

Who are some of the celebrity duos?

While the show is in its preliminary stages, the celebrity duos have been announced and will include former member of the popular boy band of the late 90’s and early 2000’s N*Sync, Lance Bass paired with his mother Diane Bass, R&B artists Brandy and Ray J are a pair, comedian Andrew Dice Clay paired with his wife Valerie Silverstein, country singer Naomi Judd paired with her husband Larry Strickland and Brandi Glanville and her best friend Dean Sheremet, known from reality television. While most of these people aren’t known for their cooking skills, they’ll likely make for an exciting show as viewers see what they’d capable of doing.

What is the format of the series?

There will be several rounds of the competition, and the celebrity duo who gets the lowest score are eliminated at the end of each round. The last two teams at the end are then to battle it out during the pressure cooker round. The series follows in the footsteps of the Australian version of MKR, which is considered the number one entertainment television show in the country for the last five years.  The series has now been sold in more than 141 countries.

The judges of the series will be chefs Curtis Stone and Cat Cora. In addition to being a chef, Stone is a restaurateur, author, businessman, and media personality. With twelve years of training under his belt he is more than qualified for his role of judge in #MKR. He has been in several television shows including Take Home Chef, Top Chef Masters, Celebrity Apprentice and All Star Academy. His first restaurant opened in 2014. In addition to being a chef, Cora is also a author and restaurateur, as well as being a contributing editor, television host, philanthropist, entrepreneur and mother. She was the first female chef to win Iron Chef.

What are people saying about the announcement of the new series?

After hearing about the popularity of the series across the world, United States audiences are excited to see the show coming to their country. Cooking competitions are popular, as are reality shows and entertainment news so this is kind of a combination of all of them into one entertaining combination. Critics of the series have complained that cooking shows should go back to the basics and have less of the competitions and more of recipes and teaching cooking. That can be expected on Food Network,

but for a show like this to air on Fox it is more of an entertainment series than a lesson series.

When can people expect to see the new series?

Fox hasn’t announced when they’ll be airing the show, other than that it is slated as a midseason series for the 2016 to 2017 season. It would probably be a good show for just before the holidays, but stay tuned for news on when it will air.

My Kitchen Rules will premiere on January 12th and is already being called the must see premiere of the year! If you watch one new reality show in January make sure to tune in to this one.
