FYI is going all out and is going heels in with the fifth season of Married At First Sight. This was an expected renewal of their premiere show, one that is one of the better social experiments on television. The next episode will be set in Chicago, where millions are already lined up to get married if the Cubs win the World Series. And the reunion special for season four is set for November 1st, with the usual fireworks on display with the guests.
Married At First Sight is one of the best reality television shows on television, with very few gimmicks. It is as close to pure reality television as you’re going to get without the editors coming in and making it television friendly. Singles that have never met before agree to get married to someone they’re meeting for the first time, as they get married. The controversial show got off to a rocky start and led to protests by small organizations. Since then it has been the focus of a lot of blogs, educational pieces and just general fascination. And in many cases, the matchmakers on the show have proven that opposites don’t always attract.
When comparing it to shows like Love At First Kiss and 90 Day Fiancé’, only the latter holds up- but that is because it is good ol’ drama, drama and more drama with 90 Day Fiancé. Married At First Sight comes off a lot less manufactured than the usual reality television show, and does not seem like an insult when they describe it as a docuseries. Through the eyes of both sexes, marriage literally becomes an end all be all moment. Make sure to tune in for the fifth season and spread the word about this great reality program.
