There is a bit of a True Blood reunion going on over at history and Joe Manganiello makes his return to scripted television. The former True Blood star is reuniting with te show’s director Lesli Linka Glatter for History’s new drama ‘Six’.
The eight episode drama will tell the story of Navy SEAL Team Six – a tight knit brotherhood of America’s most fearless warriors. The team is used to tackling the most dangerous special ops missions in locations all over the world, but during a 2014 mission to take out a Taliban leader in Afghanistan, things take a turn for the worse when they encounter a US citizen who is deeply involved with the terrorists. Joe Manganiello, who you will have mist recently seen in Magic Mike XL, will take on the role of Rip Taggart the former squad leader of Team Six. He is now working in Africa where he is protecting the village of Boko Haram.
Six is being produced by Harvey Weinstein and Manganiello says that he is excited to get to work with him, especially on such excellent material. He also says that having his True Blood director in the mix as well is just the icing on the cake. The plan is to have the series be as accurate as possible and formet US Navy SEAL Mitchell Hall (Sero Dark Thirty) will serve as a technical advisor.
Manganiello will be leading a cast that includes Barry Sloane (Revenge, Noah), Kyle Schmid (Being Human, Lost Girl), Edwin Hodge (Chicago Fire, The Purge) and Dominic Adams (Devious Maids).
