S4 Started March 21, 2017

This soap opera has everything a viewer could want and more. If Loving You Is Wrong is a Tyler Perry creation; executive produced, written, and directed by Perry for the OWN network.

The story follows the relationships and daily lives of a group five women and their households on the middle-class block of Castillo Lane in the fictional town of Maxine. The female leads are Alex (Amanda Clayton), Kelly (Edwina Findley Dickerson), Marcie (Heather Hemmens), Esperanza (Zulay Henao), and Natalie (April Parker-Jones) who manage their very complex lives while searching for love.

These strong women pay the price to hold their families and personal relationships together. They seem like people who are easy to relate to from the outside, but underneath this surface is a battlefield. Dealing with grief, calamity, and dishonesty is a daily routine while they live out an average middle-class existence raising kids, working jobs, and seeking happiness at all costs.

Fans love it, OWN really loves it, future looks bright!

Fans are vocal about their annoyances with the show, but their comments seem to stem more from being wrapped up in the dramatic storyline and passionate characters than being truly perturbed about the talent behind the show.

Overall, people seem to really enjoy the format and want to see the rich characters develop over time. Tyler Perry has been praised for creating a daily soap opera that offers realistic scenarios and situations that truly affect middle-class working families.

It has received a fair IMDb rating of 6.2 out of 10 with over 600 votes, with mixed sentiments from in the viewer comments.

OWN is the top cable network for the female demographic on Tuesday nights, thanks to both of Tyler Perry’s series, The Haves and the Have Nots and If Loving You is Wrong. Since the network launched in 2011 it hasn’t seen such high viewership as with these two shows. If Loving You is Wrong premiered in September 2014 as OWN’s highest-rated show, a title formerly held by The Haves and the Have Nots.

Tyler Perry’s shows will likely continue to do very well on OWN. Although ratings for If Loving You is Wrong have been on a slow but steady incline, and The Haves and the Have Nots on a slow but steady decline, the two are meeting somewhere around the middle to balance things out nicely for OWN.

Season 3 premiered on September 13, 2016, at a 0.80 demo rating with 2.94 million households tuning in, showing a growth of one million viewers since the series premiered two years ago. This season’s premiere put the series in the number two slot on the Top 50 Original Cable list. However, within the first couple weeks, the show dropped 0.22 landing at a 0.58 after the third episode.

If Loving You is Wrong should continue its previous seasons’ trends and pick up as the weeks go by. With viewership progressively growing, the OWN soap opera is sure to return for a fourth season.
