‘Gravity Falls’ Finale Sets New Disney XD Records

Animated series Gravity Falls came to a close last week and it certainly went  out with a bang! The series finale was watched by 2.9 million viewers when it aired on February 15 on Disney XD. The episode, which was titled ‘Weirdmageddin 3: Take Back the Falls’, ranked number 1 for regular series telecast across a number of different demographics including kids 2-11, boys 2-11, kids 6-11 and boys 6-11.  The viewing figures are a new record for Disney XD.

The animated series is about a set of twins (Dipper and Mabel, who live with their Great Uncle Stan in the bizarre little town of Gravity Falls. IT accounts for for the top nine regular animated series telecasts of all time on Disney XD for the kids 6-11 demographic and the top seven for the Boys 6-11 demographic!

Gravity Falls launched back in June of 2012 on the Disney Channel before moving over to the more boy targeted Disney XD in August 2014. Creator Alex Hirsch announced on social media back in November that he was going to bring the series to an end and was keen to make sure that it was clear that it was his own choice to do so. He explained that the quirky show had always been designed as a finite series which would cover Mabel and Dipper’s adventure over one epic summer vacation with their crazy Uncle. He always had  beginning, a middle and an end in mind.
