Even if fans will have to wait until 2017 to see season 3 of Fargo, with the way things are shaping up it will be well worth the wait. The show has never been shy about casting big names which is why there is something really special about the upcoming season. Ewan McGregor, Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jim Gaffigan, David Thewlis, Michael Stuhlbarg, Scoot McNairy, Fred Melamed, Thomas Mann, Shea Whigham and Karan Soni will round out the main cast of the new season.
When Fargo returns the new season will take place in 2010, but there is no word on whether it will follow a story similar to the previous seasons. There is also no word on if it will even tie in the previous events at all. Like all of the past seasons in the anthology they are using a brand new cast, so don’t expect any surprise faces from season 1 or 2. Production will start in January, so they may be looking for a release in the middle or later part of the year.
This is an insane cast for the best show on FX, and may very well unseat season 1 as the best of the series. With such a long wait before it airs they’ll have plenty of time to get things right. Fargo isn’t starving for awards and may get more than they can handle with this all-star cast. It’s hard to believe the entire series started with a movie in 1996 from the Coen brothers. Since debuting as a television show it has gone on to become one of the best watches on television, churning award winning seasons out like it’s nothing. The new season will be no different, and they already have the correct pieces in place.
What do you think of the final cast of Fargo? Is it the best the series has ever put out?
