USA Network has yet to announce the fate of Falling Water Season 2

Release Date of #FallingWater S2: To be announced

Dramatic thriller television series Falling Water is currently airing its first season on USA. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the series starts with three strangers, who begin to realize that they are dreaming different parts of the same dream. However, as they begin to examine the deeper meanings and ramifications of these dreams in relation to their own personal quests, they realize there is much more that they do not understand. In time, they find that not only do the dreams mean much more than their own personal aims, but that the very fate of the world could lie in their visions. The cast includes David Ajala, Lizzie Brocheré, Will Yun Lee, Kai Lennox, Anna Wood, Zak Orth.

Created by Gale Ann Hurd, #FallingWater aims to try and serve as a bridge between reality and unconscious thought. Prior to the show’s premiere, USA put a series of blogs up on its website to try and examine the science behind dreams, and explain how some of the biology of dreams actually factors into the show. What do you think of this idea? Does it strike you as something unique or a concept that you have seen before?

Critics don’t appear to be huge fans of #FW so far. The show currently has a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Many critics point that while the dream concept is done slickly, it isn’t breaking any new ground. The bigger issues, though, are that while the show tries hard to generate intrigue, the characters aren’t developed well enough for viewers to want to see the answers to the questions that are raised. The result is a show that is built around having that “what will happen next” quality of a good thriller but doesn’t deliver in that regard.

Ratings appear to be decent so far, with the premiere earning 0.467 million viewers. Time will tell if the audience sticks around in the presence of this negative buzz, though. A 6.3 on IMDb, though, a measured bit higher than the Rotten Tomatoes rating, stays as a potential beacon of hope.

While #FallingWater’s premiere season may be a bit of a stumble, this isn’t unheard of for shows starting out. What may be more worrisome is the fact that many of the views emphasize that there is little to care about in terms of the characters. This is probably the biggest reason for viewers to tune in, so if the ratings drop throughout the season, #FW runs the very serious risk of being cancelled. Of course, this is too early to call. If USA sees potential

in the show, they may keep it around for another season to work out its kinks before a final decision is made.
