‘Cormoran Strike’ Hires Holliday Grainger

Holliday Grainger has become the newest member of the new J.K. Rowling epic Cormoran Strike. She will play Robin Ellacott, and will star alongside Tom Burke who plays the title character. The series is being adapted from the bestselling novel written by Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Rowling has now shown talent in writing for just about every genre possible, with Comoran Strike having a chance to be the next James Bond.

The upcoming series will cover the books The Cuckoo’s Calling, The Silkworm and Career of Evil. There will be a total of seven episodes across all titles, so in many ways this is like a really long movie. They will officially begin shooting in November with a release date set for 2017. If Grainger looks familiar it is because she was the face of Lady Chatterly’s Lover, having a distinct role as Lady Constance Chatterly. It’ll be a bit jarring seeing her in such an opposite role, which definitely shows her acting chops.

Ellacott is an assistant to Strike, one of the few loyal people that he can depend on. Strike has a touch of PTSD and erratic behavior that interrupt his day to day life. That still doesn’t stop him from being the best man for the job, as many people begin to see his potential. Even though Ellacott is just a temporary secretary, she turns out to be one of the important people that he needs in his life. Her ability to handle his moods and the unusual caseloads makes her an important ally.

This is a real big opportunity for Grainger, as she escapes being typecast in similar roles to the one she played on Lady Chatterly’s Lover.

Was Grainger the best person for the job? Who else would you like to see hired for roles in the series?
