ABC have put new comedy ‘Work Married’ into production. The multi-camera series comes from the creator and star of Wet Hot American Summer Michael Showalter. The comedy has been written by Showalter and his writing partner Christina Lee. It follows the life of Michael Sherman, a somewhat unconventional senator and his overachieving chief of staff Christina Kim. The pair realise that their ‘work marriage’ is the only relationship that they have. Peter Principato is also attached as executive producer.
Showalter, as mentioned, starred in and co-wrote the 2001 cult movie Wet Hot American Summer. He also recently co-wrote the Netflix series revival Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. He also acted as show runner and starred in the series. Aside from all of that he is currently working as executive producer on the TBS comedy ‘Search Party’ and has a feature film coming out in March 2016 called ‘Hello My Name is Doris’. He is certainly a busy man! His co-writer Christina Lee was also involved with Wet Hot American Summer and Search Party. The duo also served as consulting producers on ABC’s Super Fun Night.
Principato Young Entertainment are producing Work Married, marking their fifth network sale of the season! In addition to Work Married, Principato are also working on the John Legend & Chrissy Teigen rom-com Ordinary People at ABC, an unnamed teacher comedy with Tom Hertz at CBS, a Misty Copeland ballet drama at FBC and finally a Gloria Allred drama at CBS.
There has been no news of casting for the show as of yet, but as always we will pass along any information as it emerges.
